Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong today said that he does not understand why the leader of the opposition, Dr Mukul Sangma, wants the government to recall the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security (Amendment) Bill 2020.
“I think he has misunderstood. He is saying that the principal act (passed in 2016) has not yet been implemented. The principal act is there and we have activated the District Task Force,” Tynsong said.
The Deputy Chief Minister also said that, on the issue of tenants, landlords must provide copies of their documents to the Rangbah Shnong.
“The Rangbah Shnong will have to register the names of the tenants at the respective police stations,” Tynsong added.
He explained that in the amended bill of 2020, the government can register people who enter Meghalaya at the entry points itself.
