The East Khasi Hills district administration has imposed more restrictions in Shillong urban agglomeration to slow down and prevent an uncontrollable surge in Covid-19 cases.
In an order issued today Deputy Commissioner, Isawanda Laloo had directed closure of all shops to closed down by 8 pm and 9 pm for restaurants and eateries.
All shops will remain closed on Sundays while bars and wine shops will be regulated by a separate order, she said.
East Khasi Hills accounts for 256 active cases till date.
Meanwhile, Meghalaya recorded 73 new cases of Covid-19 today along with seven recoveries and no fatalities.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 50 new cases, West Garo Hills 20, Ri-Bhoi two and East Jaiñtia Hills one.
East Khasi Hills recorded five recoveries and two in West Garo Hills.
In all, Meghalaya has had 85, 158 Covid-19 cases, of which 328 are active, 83,345 have recovered and 1,485 have died from the virus.
