Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that the Central government is fully committed to boosting the tourism potential of Meghalaya.
His comments on Twitter followed the special video with a tune of ‘Jingrwai Iawbei’ composed by the villagers of Kongthong.
Kongthong located in the Khatarshnong area of Sohra was recommended by the Ministry of Tourism for the UNWTO Best Tourism Village entry from India.
“Grateful to the people of Kongthong for this kind gesture. The Government of India is fully committed to boosting the tourism potential of Meghalaya. And yes, have also been seen great pictures of the recent Cherry Blossom Festival in the state. Looks beautiful,” Modi tweeted.
The video of the special tune was posted on Twitter by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.
“Hon’ble PM @narendramodi Ji, please accept this special tune composed by the villagers of Kongthong in your honour and in appreciation of GoI’s efforts in promoting the village as a prime tourism destination,” Sangma tweeted.
In the video, a woman named Shidiat Khongsit, sitting outside a wooden hut, can be seen humming a tune of ‘Jingrwai Iawbei’ in honour of the Prime Minister. The video clip also shows the landscape of the melodious village with lush green hills and forest areas.
Meanwhile, Modi in his 83rd episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ today spoke about the picture of a boat that sails in the crystal clear water of Shnongpdeng near Dawki.
The picture of the boat that appears to be floating in the air has gone viral.
In his speech, Modi said that “nature poses a threat to us only when we disturb her balance or destroy her sanctity. Nature nurtures us like a Mother and fills our world with vivid colours too”.
“I have been watching on social media the picture of a flying boat in Meghalaya that is becoming viral. This picture catches our attention at the very first sight itself. Most of you must have certainly seen it online. When we look closely at this boat floating in the air, we come to know that it is moving on the river water. The water of the river is so clear that we can see its bed and the boat seems to be floating in the air. There are many states in our country; there are many areas where people have preserved the colours of their natural heritage. These people have kept the lifestyle of living in harmony with nature alive even today. This is an inspiration to all of us too. Whatever natural resources are around us, we should save them, bring them back to their actual form. In this lies the interests of all of us; interests of the world,” Modi said.
