The Econ Club of the Department of Economics, Martin Luther Christian University organised a donation-cum-awareness programme as part of the World Poverty Eradication Day.
The programme was held at the World Mission Children’s Home in Nartiang, West Jaiñtia Hills district on October 17.
The students of the Department of Economics raised an amount of Rs 30,000 with donations from several organisations and individuals including Meghalaya Cooperatives Apex Bank, P. N. Syiem (member of KHADC) and others.
The amount was utilized to buy provision and other necessities required for the children’s education. The students also organised a workshop on money, savings and other related topics on financial literacy, a press release today said.
