Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) on Saturday hosted a fete-cum-pre-Christmas celebration at its campus at Nongrah.
This event was organised with the primary aim of supporting those affected by the crisis in Manipur.
Senior local journalist Patricia Mukhim, who is also a member of the university’s board, mentioned her visit to the camps in Manipur and how the children and families will not be able to celebrate Christmas in the comfort of their homes.
The fete featured 23 stalls offering a diverse range of items, including delicious food from various cuisines, interactive games, and products such as Christmas decorations, shawls, clothing and more.
Other contributors to this effort were NEEPCO, Meghalaya Women’s Alliance, and the Indian Council of Social Welfare. These organisations have donated essential items such as utensils, warm clothing, and blankets, which will be dispatched to various relief camps in Manipur.
