Shillong, Aug 25: The Government of Meghalaya has notified the Chief Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (CMSS) 2025.
This flagship initiative aims to promote higher education, academic excellence, and financial support for students of Meghalaya.
Commissioner and Secretary Vijay Kumar Mantri said the scheme will provide financial assistance to students from Class XI up to Ph.D. level, studying in recognised institutions within and outside the state. Eligible students will receive a fixed annual scholarship of Rs 6,000, disbursed directly into their bank accounts.
“What sets CMSS apart is the lack of an income ceiling for applicants, ensuring all deserving students domiciled in Meghalaya can benefit. Students pursuing regular courses in government, private, and nationally recognized institutions are eligible to apply,” he said.
To ensure transparency and efficiency, applications will be accepted online. A dedicated web portal will go live on September 1, 2025, allowing students to submit their applications.
The required documents include proof of domicile/identity, previous year’s mark sheet, recent passport-size photograph, and a bonafide certificate from the Head of Institution.
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma emphasized the importance of education, stating, “Through the Chief Minister’s Scholarship Scheme, we are committed to removing financial barriers and empowering the young people of Meghalaya to pursue their aspirations with confidence.”
