: Senior citizen of Jowai, OR Shallam has written to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and sought his intervention into the Jowai trash problem while blaming the public representative, Wailadmiki Shylla and the district administration for being incompetent.
Drawing attention to the problem that has caused headache for the populace in Iawmusiang and other part of the West Jaiñtia Hills headquarters, Shallam said the malodorous and disgusting smell would lead to health hazards coupled with the fact that the state in reeling under the pandemic.
“The district administration and the Local MLA have showed severe incompetence and failure to tackle the issue, thus victimising the residents to the utmost inconveniences. Non development of the proper and scientific waste management plant led the town and the district to face the ultimate consequences,” he said.
He also accused the MLA of favouritism in implementation of schemes in Jowai.
“The MLA of the 2nd Jowai Assembly constituency has implemented many of his MLA schemes to his supporters irrespective of their financial status and background whereas turned blind eyes and deaf ears to the non-supporters of the constituency in broad day light,” he alleged and questioned, “Is it now a common practice for the Politician to exercise such unjustified act? Or is it the true sense of democracy itself is being exploited by Politician for self gain and interest? To be very honest, Jowai needs a saviour during such hardships.”
