A teenager’s body was found near Dimapara village under South Garo Hills district today. Police suspect that the girl was sexually assaulted and later murdered.
The teenager had gone missing since December 1 when she had gone to school to write her SSLC selection exams.
The worried parents awaited news of the girl’s return while making frenetic search attempts along with others from nearby villages. When even after two days the girl did not return, a missing report was filed in the nearby Dalu PS in West Garo Hills.
Locals reported that the body of the school going girl was found in a mutilated state.
Confirming the incident, South Garo Hills superintendent of police, Rithuraj Ravi S said, “Prima facie the death seems like a murder. We are awaiting the report from the post mortem after which we can confirm the details.”
The SP did not rule out sexual assault or rape while informing an investigation into the matter is currently being undertaken by the police department.
