Meghalaya health minister Ampareen Lyngdoh was reportedly attacked outside her home at Laitumkhrah on Tuesday evening by a 46-year-old man who was armed with a dao.
Lyngdoh said that during an online meeting she heard window panes breaking, she then rushed to the ground floor to check who had pelted stones.
Upon seeing the CCTV camera, Lyngdoh’s husband, a Member of District Council (MDC) Fantin Lakadong ran out to the streets to get a hold of those who had pelted stones.
Caught by surprise, Lyngdoh who was infront of the gate of her house was attacked by one one Teibor Lyting from Shillong’s Kharmalki area.
According to the police the man was in an inebriated condition and they will examine if he is mentally stable.
“I screamed so loud seeing the weapon in his hand, and immediately my son and my husband rushed back and caught hold of the person. I immediately called the SP and the police were quick to rush to the spot and they are currently investigating,” Lyngdoh said.
Meanwhile, the security has beefed up at minister’s house.
