Meghalaya Human Rights Commission (MHRC) non-judicial member and former IPS officer Heimonlang Nongpluh paid a courtesy call to Governor Chandrashekhar H Vijayashankar at Raj Bhavan today.
During the meeting, Nongpluh briefed the Governor on the initiatives and activities of the MHRC, emphasising its efforts in safeguarding and promoting human rights in the state. Discussions were held on the importance of ensuring justice, equity, and protection for all citizens, with special focus on marginalized and vulnerable communities.
The Governor appreciated the significant role of the commission in addressing human rights concerns and assured his continued support in strengthening its mandate to uphold justice and fairness in the state.
The meeting highlighted the shared commitment to fostering a society where human rights are respected and upheld for the holistic development of Meghalaya.
