The significant change to the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) 2024 rankings based on reevaluations has concerned Mairang MLA Metbah Lyngdoh.
Writing to Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma, Lyngdoh said that the reevaluation saw some students get much higher marks than they were initially awarded in the official declaration of results by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) in May.
Students are within their rights to ask for a reevaluation of their declared marks. The significant deviation of so many has led to questions being asked about MBOSE’s capabilities and methodology.
The reevaluation “reflects a grave matter of concern to be raised when it comes to the students and their future academics,” Lyngdoh told Sangma.
According to him, it is also discouraging to colleges like Tirot Sing Memorial College and Mairang Presbyterian Science College, which are in his constituency.
