The Meghalaya Sport Climbing and Mountaineering Association (MeSCMA) has conducted trials on December 2, 2023 followed by training on December 4-5 to prepare a team to represent the state in the IMF North East Zone Sport Climbing Competition to be held at IHCAE, Chemchey, Sikkim from December 7-10.
Altogether, 13 climbers were selected to represent the state. This selection trial was supported by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs.
Four members of the association, namely Kayleigh Petra Nongkynrih, Bakordor Umsong, Teimiki Sungoh and Ibakordor Shisha Mary Sawian, will officiate at the zonal competition as judge, route setters and belayer respectively while Hunlin Lyngdoh will be the team manager.
The association expressed its gratitude to the Commandant of 58 GTC, Happy Valley, for allowing the members and climbers to use their climbing wall for the selection and training purposes ahead of the zonal competition.
