Governor Chandrashekhar H Vijayashankar has said Meghalaya is setting an example for other states by celebrating, not only Durga Puja, but every festival with a spirit of togetherness, upholding India’s message of “Unity in Diversity” in a true sense.
The Governor was speaking at the 30th Get Together of Harmony organized by the Central Puja Committee at the Jagannath Mandir auditorium, Hindu Dharma Sabha in Thana Road here today.
He spoke about the significance of Navratri, explaining each of the goddesses associated with each day and their symbolic meaning. He prayed for Durga’s blessings to grant strength and energy for selfless service to humanity, and highlighted that the victory of good over evil is the central message of these celebrations.
Leaders from different faiths and other organisations attended the event upholding the tradition of ‘Prayer of Harmony’ that has been a hallmark of the gathering since 1992.
A vibrant cultural program was also presented by children, adding joy and colour to the celebrations.
