Meghalaya is ranked among the excellent performing states in India for best performance in surveillance, reporting and casualty assessment of cases following Covid-19 vaccinations.
According to the performance indicators for Adverse Events Following Immunisation (AEFI) surveillance for the third quarter of Financial Year 2022-2023 (April to December 2022), the excellent performing states and union territories are Meghalaya, Bihar, Haryana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Delhi, Goa, Chandigarh and Dadra &Nagar Haveli.
The good performing states are Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh and Puducherry.
The weighted scoring has been revised from this quarter as guided under the national AEFI meeting held on January 12 this year.
The score for reporting has been increased from 40 per cent to 50 per cent and the score for state level activities has been reduced from 30 per cent to 20 per cent. The score for investigation is the same at 30 per cent so as to have due focus for reporting on AEFIs.
“The states and union territories have been grouped as per the size of their birth cohorts (large, medium, small and very small states) and within it each state/union territory is categorised as Poor, Average, Good, or Excellent Performing,” the Union Health Ministry said in its letter to Mission Directors of National Health Mission issued on March 6.
The letter also said that these performance indicators should be used by State Immunisation Officers to “review their performance and efforts to maintain and sustain community confidence in vaccines”.
