In order to streamline the revenue collection and reconciliation of the bill collection process, the management of the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Ltd (MeECL) has decided that payments of electricity bills of Rs 10 lakh and above shall be accepted only through RTGS/NEFT mode.
However, payments made through other online modes, such as net banking, credit cards and debit cards shall be considered at par with RTGS/NEFT for this purpose.
In order to avoid inconvenience to consumers, arrangements for offline and online (RTGS/NEFT) mode shall run concurrently for a period of one month, that is until January 31, 2023. This was informed via a press release by the MeECL’s public relations office today.
