The State government has appointed MPS Maxwell B Syiem as the superintendent of police the new Eastern West Khasi Hills district.
Syiem is currently the second in command of the SF-10.
The notification issued today also appointed MPS, Herbert Pyniaid Kharkongor, the sub-divisional police officer, as the deputy superintendent of police (headquarters) of the new district.
It may be noted that the State cabinet had on November 5 approved a proposal to upgrade the Mairang civil sub-division to a full-fledged district to be known as East West Khasi Hills. The new district will be inaugurated on November 10.
