Thieves managed to break into Mawthawpdah Presbyterian Higher Secondary School in South West Khasi Hills district and managed to make off with Rs 3 lakh.
According to police, the incident was detected yesterday morning.
Police said the theft was discovered by the Principal of the school, yesterday at around 11:30 am after she came back to join school after a few days leave.
Unknown miscreants had cut open the main lock of her room and stole cash from the locker of the almirah inside her room, police added
A case has been registered and investigation is on.
