The Catholic Association of Shillong will hold a silent peace rally to condemn the inhuman treatment of women and to seek peace in Manipur on August 5.
The rally will commence from Madan Iewrynghep, Laitumkhrah near Fire Brigade to Don Bosco Stadium from 10 am, Archbishop Victor Lyngdoh said in a statement today.
“In the past months, we have prayed for peace in the world and in a very special way for peace in Manipur. Let us continue to pray for this intention so that peace may prevail in the neighbouring state, which has seen injustices to women, burning of houses, destruction of places of worship, exodus of people and death,” the Archbishop said.
The association said it stands for respect and dignity of human beings in our civilized human society and urged all citizens of the state to participate in the rally.
