The court of the Special Judge (POCSO), East Jaiñtia Hills has sentenced a man to life imprisonment in the rape and murder of a minor.
Emvyris Dkhar alias Micheal Dkhar of Lad-Sutnga village committed the crime in 2016. The court in a verdict passed on March 7 convicted him under section 302 IPC and section 4 of the POCSO act and imposed a fine of Rs 7 lakh.
It may be mentioned that Dkhar was arrested for the rape and murder of a three-year-old after her body was recovered a cemetery near Shi Kilo area. He later confessed of another rape and murder of an 11-year old.
Following the confession, Khliehriat Police fished out the body of the 11-year-old victim, who went missing from an abandoned coal mine situated at Jalyiah village, around 10 km from Lad Sutnga.
The case related to the rape and murder of the 11-year old is still pending.
