The Court of the Judicial Magistrate First Class, North Garo Hills, passed a judgement on November 21 where one Tapon R Marak was convicted of assault and outraging the modesty of a woman.
The accused was convicted under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for disrobing, assault and outraging the modesty of a woman, for which he was sentenced to five years of simple imprisonment.
The case goes back to February 2019 when the matter was reported to Resubelpara police station. Police then investigated the complaint thoroughly, leading to Marak’s conviction.
