A man has been accused of assaulting his wife, mother-in-law and sister-in-law with a machete in a village in South West Khasi Hills on July 12.
Police informed that the suspect committed the crime between 10:30pm and 11pm while under the influence of alcohol.
The accused has been identified as Comingstar Lyngdoh Nonglait (29) of Shaid Shaid Umoit village.
He is alleged to have assaulted his wife Ribahun Kharwar (23), mother-in-law Ridalin Kharwar (43) and his sister-in-law Wandashisha Kharwar (19) at their residence.
All three women sustained major injuries and were taken to Mawkyrwat Civil Hospital Mawkyrwat and later referred to Shillong Civil Hospital.
The accused surrendered at Mawkyrwat police station the following morning.
