Shillong, Apr 19: One Jekua Marak was allegedly assaulted by a woman with a stick in Guwahati today while he was singing a song by the late Assamese singer Zubeen Garg.
The incident took place at around 10am in the Patharkuwari area of the city and left Marak seriously injured, police said.
According to reports, Marak was proceeding on foot from his residence towards Patharkuwari while singing the song. It was then that a woman, identified as Namita Gwala, allegedly attacked him with a stick, leaving him with a head injury and heavy bleeding.
Despite the injuries, Marak reached the Noonmati Police Station with the stick used in the assault and lodged an FIR. Police are investigating.
