A family in Wahkhen village, East Khasi Hills had a fortunate escape early Sunday morning after a fire engulfed their home.
The house of Hun Majaw was completely gutted by the flames. The fire is thought to have begun at around 4 am when the family was in deep sleep. Thankfully, one was injured.
The family suspect that the cause of the fire was the fire left smouldering in the kitchen hearth. They estimate that the damage amounts to lakhs of rupees.
