Load shedding hours in Khasi-Jaiñtia Hills have increased, with Shillong now to face eight hours of power cuts per day.
This, however, still pales in comparison to the 10 hours of cuts a day to be borne in areas under Mawphlang, Nongstoin, Sohra, Mawlyndep (without Lapalang), the whole of Garo Hills barring Tura, the non-industrial areas of Jaintia Hills and Ri-Bhoi. Tura will have to undergo eight hours of load shedding daily.
According to the revised schedule, which came into effect on Wednesday, areas in Shillong will be without electricity from 12 midnight to 5am, from 10 to 11am and from 1 to 3pm. Mawphlang, Nongstoin and Sohra face cuts from 12 midnight to 4am, from 7 to 9am, 11am to 1pm, 4 to 5pm and 9 to 10pm. Mawlyndep (without Lapalang) will be without power from 11pm to 5am, 10am to 12 noon and 2 to 4pm. Lapalang’s timings are 12 midnight to 5am, 10am to 12 noon and 2 to 3pm.
Garo Hills’ timings are from 11pm to 2am, 4 to 7am, 10 to 11am and 2 to 5pm. Tura’s schedule is slightly different as it will not face cuts between 10 to 11am and 2 to 3pm.
The non-industrial areas of Jaintia Hills and Ri-Bhoi will face power cuts from 2 to 5am, 7 to 10am, 2 to 5pm and 11pm to 12 midnight.
