Due to “inactivity”, the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) has dissolved its South West Khasi Hills unit and constituted a new one, it was informed through a press release today.
The LJP is a bit player in Meghalaya politics and has no elected legislators.
The previous district committee was dissolved by the LJP state president, Dinesh Kr Gupta, while on a visit to Mawkyrwat on May 14.
At the same time and in the same meeting, Gupta constituted a new district committee consisting of 19 office bearers, led by Shongdorlang Nongsiej as president.
Silvestar Buhphang is the new vice-president, Naphang Nongsiej chief general secretary, Renyddson Lyngdoh general secretary, Kialanty Marwein secretary, Nongjop Thongni assistant secretary and Khrawbor Syiemlieh treasurer. There are a further 12 executive members.
