Shillong, Jan 13: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), East Jaintia Hills District, today organised a legal awareness programme on the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 and drug abuse under the DAWN Scheme at Cement Market, Umpleng.
Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel Rimaya Manar explained the NDPS Act’s key provisions, highlighting legal consequences of drug-related offences and the importance of public cooperation in reporting such cases. She emphasized awareness, early intervention, and rehabilitation, encouraging the public to support drug-free initiatives.
The programme aimed to promote access to justice and a drug-free East Jaintia Hills District, urging public engagement with DLSA’s legal aid services.
