Raj Bhavan Shillong laid out the red carpet, literally and figuratively, for a spiritual leader’s visit today.
Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai, described in a Raj Bhavan press release as “a globally renowned spiritual leader and humanitarian,” was welcomed by Governor CH Vijayashankar, Raj Bhavan officials, civil servants, police personnel and others.
During the event the Governor expressed deep gratitude to Madhusudan Sai for his contributions to society, particularly in the fields of education, healthcare and nutrition, “which have uplifted countless lives across India and beyond”. Vijayashankar also acknowledged the guru’s recent collaboration with the Assam government to launch a transformative morning nutrition programme aimed at providing free, nutritious meals to school-going children. “This initiative, which has benefited millions, underscores his unwavering commitment to public welfare,” the release added.
In his address, Madhusudan Sai emphasised the importance of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (One World, One Family) and urged everyone to cultivate a spirit of service and compassion. He also had a meeting with Vijay Kumar Mantri, Commissioner and Secretary of the Education Department. They discussed starting a daily nutritious meal initiative for approximately 10,000 school going children of Meghalaya. The religious leader also praised Meghalaya for its natural beauty and medicinal plants and said he is planning to contribute to the state’s medical sector as well.
The event at Raj Bhavan also witnessed a cultural program by Geetanjali Dance Academy.
