Shillong, Jun 25: Ladrymbai B Sports Club complained today that they were the victims of a rules violation that has not been addressed by the East Jaintia District Cricket Association (EJDCA) in its ongoing knockout cricket tournament.
In a release issued today, Ladrymbai B said that the issue at hand arose during their May 20 semifinal at Mookhep Ground against Dein Chynrum CC. The latter, it is alleged, fielded three guest players from outside the district or league. This, Ladrymbai B said, was a “direct violation” of the EJDCA’s rules. Dein Chynrum eventually won the match by 12 runs.
Ladrymbai filed an official complaint on the same day but the EJDCA “failed to respond formally.” Instead, a formal discussion was held on June 8 “at a shop” in Dkhiah East, which Ladrymbai B has refused to accept as official. “No written reply has been received to date.”
A week later the club escalated the matter by taking it to the Deputy Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills requesting that the final be put on hold until an inquiry is held.
However, the EJDCA has proceeded to schedule the final for tomorrow at the RBDCA Ground in Ri-Bhoi.
Ladrymbai B “strongly condemns” the conduct of the EJDCA and protests “this irresponsible and unfair conduct.”
It called on the Meghalaya Cricket Association, which is facing its own trials and tribulations at the moment, to take note of what it argues is a rule violation and intervene in the matter.
