The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ri Bhoi organised a one day programme for famers on PM Kisan Samman Sammelan 2022, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in the national capital.
About 190 participants took part in the programme—that includes about 164 farmers, government officials and FPOs—through webcasting of the inauguration and launch of the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Urvarak Pariyojana — One Nation One fertiliser.
Ri-Bhoi district Kisan Morcha president, Plenty Makri joined the programme as the chief guest. Speaking at the programme she enlightened farmers about the importance of Kisan Saman Sammelan and also encouraged all the farmers to open bank accounts and take maximum benefit from the scheme.
Dr. V. K. Mishra, Director ICAR RC for NEH region, Umiam explained about the objectives of the programme and how the farmers have been benefitted from it. He said the ICAR, KVK can meet the farmers need at their doorstep and urged them to work hard and take benefits from all the agricultural schemes and increased their income, social status and women empowerment.
Dr. S.K.Das, Principal Scientist and Head, Division of Animal & Fishery Sciences (DAFS) emphasized on agricultural business and to be more independent and self- reliant by taking the benefits from every schemes including crop, animal and fish sector etc. He also encouraged the farmers to get skill and capacity building trainings if required from ICAR and KVK Ri-Bhoi.
