The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), South Garo Hills, in collaboration with the College of Post Graduate Studies in Agricultural Sciences, Umiam successfully completed four awareness campaigns cum training programmes in the district.
The initiative, funded by the AICRP, Cashew-Directorate of Cashew Research, Puttur, aimed at promoting cashew cultivation in non-traditional areas.
Over the course of the program, 200 cashew growers from Dagal Gopgre, Budugre, Bandarigre, and Papa Songittal participated. As part of the program, a comprehensive booklet titled ‘Production Technology of Cashew Nut in Meghalaya’ was also published, serving as a valuable resource for farmers and stakeholders.
The training focused on various aspects of cashew cultivation, including the expansion of cashew farming into shifting cultivation areas, with a special emphasis on high-density planting (H.D.P) and organic nutrient management.
