The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), NEIAH unit has written to the AYUSH Ministry highlighting the need to appoint persons to hold offices at the institute for its smooth functioning.
The union sought appointment of a permanent director at NEIAH stating that the institute, which is running two colleges, needs a director who would provide consistent leadership and fostering an environment conducive to growth and overall welfare of the institution and aligns with the institution’s mission and values, someone capable of effectively managing our resources, staff, and external relations.
Seeking recruitment of permanent teaching faculty the KSU said the lack of permanent teachers in the institute has affected the students and impacted their academic experience and prospects.
The Union also said that the failure to appoint teaching faculty is in contravention of the National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH) and National Commission for Indian System of Medicines (NCISM) norms on Minimum Standard Requirements for Medical Colleges (Homoeopathy and Ayurveda).
Further, the KSU also requested for the appointment of a principal in the College of Homoeopathy and increment of outside posting duration for the internship program of BHMS from three months to about six months.
