The Khasi Students Union (KSU) informed today that it has penned a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a host of issues that concern the pressure group.
In a state, KSU General Secretary Donald Thabah said that the memo had been sent to Modi two weeks ago calling for the total exemption of Meghalaya from the purview of the Citizenship Amendment Act, demand for the implementation of the Inner Line Permit, exemption of Meghalaya from the Indo-Nepal Friendship Treaty and the inclusion of the Khasi language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. It also reminded the PM about the disputed Meghalaya-Assam border and the promised Central Agricultural University that is supposed to be set up in the state.
“We urged the central government to pay attention to these long pending demands of the people of the state,” Thabah added.
