The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) of Upper Shillong filed a complaint with Mawngap police today, alleging that a group of people were seen violating Covid-19 rules.
According to the KSU, which provided photos to back up its claim, the supposed violators arrived on two-wheelers and another vehicle bearing an Assam licence plate and gathered together without wearing masks or maintaining physical distancing. They were also openly drinking alcohol near 7th Mile along the Nongstoin-Mawsynram highway.
Describing this kind of activity as a threat to the lives of others, the pressure group urged the authorities to book the people responsible.
