Irked by the refusal of shopkeepers to accept the Rs 10 coins, a resident of Khliehriat has written to the Deputy Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills seeking his intervention on the matter.
Arkijuh Dkhar in the letter said that despite the Reserve Bank of India having made the Rs 10 coin a legal tender, still shopkeepers and people of the district refuse to accept these coins.
He also urged the DC to issue an official announcement that Rs 10 coins are legal tenders and to take legal action against those who refused to accept the coins.
