On the 11th day of the Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) campaign, Meghalaya KVKs hosted the programme across 63 villages and 18 blocks, with 7,460 participants.
The key aspect to the campaign’s success in all the districts was the direct engagement of scientists, KVK experts, departmental officials and farmers, a press release stated today. The campaign has helped in enhancing knowledge exchange, technology adoption and sustainable farming practices through farmer-centred learning, thereby promoting resilience and context-specific solutions in agriculture, it added.
The technical sessions covered a wide range of topics, such as control measures for African swine fever, classical swine fever and foot and mouth disease in pigs, feeding management of animals mainly on silage preparation and Azolla cultivation, management of fall army worm, good agricultural practices for better profit, importance of vaccination in livestock and poultry farming and various benefits from the Animal and Husbandry Department, etc.
Live visual demonstration on recent technologies was also presented by the different teams.
Extension literature on packages of practices of buckwheat cultivation, millet cultivation, organic management practices of Lakadong turmeric, organic practices and management of pest and diseases, Lumsniang pig variety, natural farming, rainwater harvesting, etc were widely distributed to the farmers.
