The Karnataka Assembly Committee on Welfare of Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, and Other Backward Classes today visited Shillong and held interactions with the Meghalaya Governor and its counterpart of the assembly committee here.
During their interaction with the Governor, the delegation shared their insights and ongoing initiatives, while also highlighting key issues concerning access to education, livelihoods, and representation.
The Governor assured them of his support in ensuring that the concerns of backward and minority communities are given due attention at all relevant forums.
At the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Annexe Hall, the house committee of both states exchanged ideas, policies, and best practices related to the welfare of Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, and Other Backward Classes. The discussions focused on strengthening collaborative efforts and learning from each other’s experiences to improve welfare initiatives in both states.
“This exchange of ideas and perspectives will certainly help us shape more inclusive policies not just for our respective states, but for the nation as a whole,” Rupa M. Marak (MLA, Dadenggre) remarked.
The visiting Karnataka delegation was led by AR Krishnamurthy (MLA, Kollegal), Member and Chairman of the Committee, and comprised GH Srinivasa (MLA, Tarikere), HV Venkatesh (MLA, Pavagada), Gururaj Shetty Gantihole (MLA, Baindur), Siddu Patil (MLA, Humnabad), Katti Nikhil Umesh (MLA, Hukkeri), and Members of the Legislative Council, Dr. Dhananjaya Sarji S.R. and Balkis Banu.
