As part of the celebration of Gandhi Jayanti, the West Jaintia Hills district administration, in collaboration with the Jowai Municipal Board (JMB), Dorbar Chnong Tympang Iawmusiang, Jowai Traders Association (JTA), Market Committee CNI Market, Jowai Presbyterian Iawchyiap, and Seinraij Jowai, carried out a cleaning drive in the market areas of Jowai today.
The residents of Iawmusiang, Moosalyngkat stakeholders, vendors and shopkeepers participated in cleaning the market areas, including CNI Market, Seinraij Market, Jowai Presbyterian (Iaw chyiap) Market and surrounding areas.
The cleaning drive was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Dahunlang V Lyngdoh.
Earlier, a short programme was held where the JTA felicitated government officials for their daily service and contribution to society. Certificates were also distributed to participants of the Swachhata Hi Seva fortnight, which started on September 15 and culminated today, organised by the JMB.
