The Jaiñtia National Council (JNC) has reminded the state government of its commitment made to build a mini secretariat in Jowai.
The reminder came after Chief Minister Conrad Sangma made a statement recently that a mini secretariat would come up in Tura, which is one reason that the demand for a winter capital was made.
“We want to remind him that the foundation stone for setting up mini secretariat in Jowai was held in December 2022, which we have seen no trace of it till now. Is this only for election purpose,” the JNC questioned.
Stating that Jaiñtia Hills is the highest revenue generator for the state the JNC said it remains neglected which means, “Till now the government only takes not give.”
It also reminded the government of the long-pending projects like the Iawmusiang building complex and said the Jaintia Hills needs development which the government should fulfill the promises made.
“Stop manipulating people immediately. Star building mini secretariat in Jowai as planned in Tura,” the JNC demanded.
