Jirang MLA Sosthenes Sohtun met today with leaders of the Western Ri-Bhoi Dorbar and Social Welfare Organisation to assess various developmental projects aimed at enhancing the well-being and prosperity of the residents of the area.
Also present was Victor Ranee MDC, president of the Western Ri-Bhoi Dorbar Eniasroy Rani and the dorbar secretary Lamgiskar Wahlang. Traditional leaders like the headman of Patharkhmah, Petalman Thangkhiew, joined in the deliberations.
Sohtun met with the traditional council shortly after the newly-elected office bearers of the dorbar assumed their roles. As the local legislator, he encouraged them to dedicate themselves to the welfare of the region and the district at large.
During the meeting, the dorbar presented a memorandum to the MLA, urging the fulfillment of several pending demands, namely the acceleration of the 33 KV power substation installation, the elevation of the Umsong health sub-centre to primary health centre status, the inauguration of a degree model college and the construction of a protective perimeter around the Western Ri-Bhoi Dorbar Hall, among other developmental initiatives.
The dorbar also beseeched Sohtun to oversee the efficient operation of the civil sub-division office and called for the maintenance of a high work ethic among the staff and officers, all with the paramount goal of serving the needs of the local populace.
