The Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) has not updated its website in more than six years, the Jaintia Youth Federation (JYF) said today.
According to the JYF, the last update came on January 3, 2019 and the website is in desperate need for more up to date information. It has written to the Chairman of the JHADC in this regard.
“In this digital age, a functional and regularly updated website is not merely a symbol of good governance but a practical necessity,” the JYF stated.
According to the JYF, a vibrant and accessible online presence enables citizens, especially the youth, to stay informed about council activities, policies, job openings, cultural initiatives, public welfare schemes, etc.
The organisation also advocated for a dedicated youth corner, grievance redressal portal and e-service options.
The JYF also wants the JHADC website to feature Jaintia culture, festivals and heritage and introduce online UPI payment options for stamp fees, licence fees, professional tax fees and any other payments to the council, ensuring transparency and convenience for the public.
