The Jaiñtia Hills regional committee will hold its first meeting on October 6 to take forward Phase 2 of the Meghalaya-Assam negotiations to resolve the disputed border.
The meeting will be led by cabinet minister and Jaiñtia Hills regional committee chairperson Sniawbhalang Dhar.
Dhar said that the committee will fix on the strategies after the first meeting.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, who is leading the Ri-Bhoi regional committee, said that members will sit after the puja holidays.
Phase 2 consists of areas like Langpih in West Khasi Hills; Borduar, Nongwah- Mawtamur, Deshdoomreah, Block 2 in Ri-Bhoi; Block 1 and Psiar-Khanduli in West Jaiñtia Hills.
