Voice of the People (VOO) candidate for South Shillong, Danny Langstieh, who filed his nomination papers for the February 27 election yesterday, said that his party has gone to the grassroots to make people understand the importance of clean politics and governance.
“We are very well-prepared since the time we joined the party organization and we have been working day in and day out to make people understand what is the party’s concept, which is to fight corruption and to bring about clean governance,” he told reporters. “We want to make people understand that this is very important for this upcoming election. We have accommodated all sectors of the people to make them understand the different issues.”
When asked about going up against a candidate like sitting MLA Sanbor Shullai of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Langstieh said that no one is indispensable and the choice depends on the public.
Referring to his family background, he said, “My family has been contributing to the society, but it isn’t a limited way within the Dorbar Shnong, etc. So, this time we made a decision that we need to do more, not just within the perspective of the Shnong but we need to do more for the constituency as a whole.”
