In a step towards fostering agricultural growth and community development, the ICAR Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Ri-Bhoi organised a day-long ‘Awareness cum Workshop on MY Bharat’.
The event held yesterday was part of the broader 100-day action plan initiated by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs under the MY Bharat (Mera Yuva Bharat) scheme, which aims to empower and educate the rural population.
The workshop was attended by 45 farmers representing 22 villages of Ri-Bhoi. These farmers were provided with crucial information on the latest agricultural practices, government schemes and sustainable farming techniques. The event aimed to bridge the gap between traditional farming methods and modern agricultural practices, ensuring that the local farming community is well-equipped to face contemporary challenges.
The programme featured expert-led sessions on topics such as integrated pest management, soil health improvement, water conservation strategies, processing and value addition and artificial insemination. Demonstrations were conducted to showcase the practical application of these techniques, enabling farmers to witness firsthand the benefits of adopting these methods in their fields, a press release stated.
In addition to technical knowledge, the workshop also highlighted various government schemes and subsidies available to farmers under the MY Bharat initiative.
The event concluded with an open discussion session.
