The ICAR research complex for the North East at Umroi, Ri-Bhoi, took part in a nationwide campaign on the concept ‘physical/virtual run’ today morning as part of the FIT India Mission, which conceptualised the FIT India Freedom Run 2.0 to commemorate the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
VK Mishra, ICAR director, flagged off the run at 7:30am. Addressing the gathering, he said that the concept of healthy lifestyles should be incorporated at a very tender age.
A pledge was also taken by the participants to make efforts towards a healthy lifestyle.
The institute also celebrated Hindi Ullas fortnight, which was from September 14 to 30. Director of North East Police Academy, Deepak Kumar, graced the occasion as chief guest for the inaugural function. Throughout the fortnight, various competitions were organised as well as a Hindi workshop to increase the usage of Hindi in day-to-day official communications.
