Representatives of the ICAR Research Complex for the NEH Region, Umiam, and state government gathered today to discuss matters related to agriculture in Meghalaya, such as the problems facing citrus growers.
Other areas that were specially focused on included farm mechanisation and disease management in ginger.
The meeting further aimed to strengthen the collaboration between researchers and field-level extension workers.
The interface meeting was between ICAR and officers from the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments, held in Upper Shillong.
The event brought together district-level Agriculture and Horticulture Officers, Block Technology Managers and Assistant Technology Managers from all districts under the state government. Around 60 state government officials participated in the meeting.
From ICAR, a team of scientists having expertise in the different fields like plant breeding, horticulture, farm machinery, plant pathology, entomology, organic farming, soil health and nutrient management took active part in the meeting.
