The Hynniewtrep Youths Council (HYC) has advocated for the elevation of Umsong Health Sub Centre to the status of Primary Health Centre (PHC) to better serve the people of the area.
Today, leaders of the HYC’s western Ri-Bhoi unit met with the Health and Family Welfare Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh here while the latter was visiting the district.
Lyngdoh reportedly assured the pressure group that she would take the matter further.
Umsong Health Sub Centre serves more than 15 villages in the area but it cannot meet many of the healthcare needs of the residents. Upgrading it to a PHC would greatly benefit the people in terms of healthcare facilities, the HYC opined.
