The Hynñiewtrep Youth Council (HYC) has decided to hold a public consultation on issues related to the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) on Saturday.
HYC general secretary, Roy Kupar Synrem in a press release here today said that the public consultation will be held at the Shillong Polytechnic in Mawlai at 11 am wherein public representatives, traditional heads, youth and women organisations and the public are invited to attend and discuss on the workings of the MeECL that could affect the State and its people.
It may be mentioned that the HYC had recently raised the issue of installation of smart meters. The group had claimed that a consumer had to pay Rs 9,444.44 (without taxes and provisional sum) for installation of the smart meter which is way higher than other states where the cost of each meter is around Rs 3,000.
