The Hynñiewtrep Youth Council (HYC), Ri Bhoi Western Zone today said it detected 16 migrant workers engaged in construction works without proper identification or employment documents.
The pressure group said under its “Sier Lapalang” operation, it conducted checks at Umsnong and Mawskei areas under Jirang Block.
Zonal president RC Thangkhiew stated that the HYC is actively implementing the “operation” to to check the influx of non-tribal individuals into the state, particularly concerning those working in various sectors
He said non-locals without valid documents should vacate their workplaces voluntarily and warned that the HYC would take strict action against any further violations.
