Shillong, Sep 7: A group of hungry and marauding elephants waylaid a Mahindra pickup truck carrying fresh vegetables near Gasuapara in South Garo Hills earlier today.
The vegetables were being transported by vegetable traders from neighbouring Assam for sale at the nearby Dumnikura weekly market. However, the elephants had other plans.
The gentle giants, known for their voracious appetites, had a field day feasting and relishing on the vegetables, leaving virtually nothing for the poor owners.
The incident has highlighted the ongoing human-elephant conflict in the region, where pachyderms often venture into human settlements and agricultural areas in search of food.
