Members of the Meghalaya Assembly Committee on Women Empowerment visited West Jaiñtia Hills today and convened a meeting with the relevant line departments to discuss on various issues related to women of the district.
The discussion focused primarily on the initiatives, schemes, assistances and services undertaken by the various government departments with regard towards the welfare of the women and children of the district.
The various programmes conducted by the concerned line departments were examined in order to ascertain their effectiveness in promoting women empowerment and welfare.
The meeting was chaired by MLA Santa Mary Shylla who was accompanied by MLAs Miani D Shira, Adelbert Nongrum and Mathew Beyondstar Kurbah.
Deputy Commissioner, Batlang. S Sohliya, Superintendent of Police, Chemphang Syrti and other officials were also present at the meeting.
